Authorized Substances into MS4
Only certain substances are allowed to drain into the MS4, such as fire hydrant flushing, air conditioner condensate,
de-chlorinated swimming pool water, and irrigation systems. Below is a complete list of items allowed in the MS4.

- Uncontaminated ground water infiltration
- Uncontaminated pumped groundwater
- Potable water sources discharges
- Foundation drains
- Air conditioning condensate
- Irrigation water (not consisting of treated, or untreated, wastewater)
- Rising ground water
- Springs
- Water from crawl space pumps
- Footing drains
- Lawn watering runoff
- Residential car washing
- Residual street wash water
- Discharge from firefighting activities (including flushing)
- Flows from riparian habitats and wetlands
- De-chlorinated swimming pool discharges, and Discharge authorized by and in compliance with a separate NPDES permit
